HOSEPIPE BAN
Anglian Water has imposed a hosepipe ban from 01.00AM on Saturday 11th July 2026 until further notice.
This means you may NOT use a hose - even if it is hand-held - to water your allotment.
The ban applies at home as well as on the allotments.
You may continue to water crops using a watering-can or bucket.
Please Note: Some individuals may have an Official Exemption from the ban. So, if you see someone using a hose, please do not confront them. Instead, if you have concerns, please raise the matter with Field Secretary David or other committee member
An Important Message from the Council
Bonfire and Barbeque Ban
Due to the increasingly hot, dry weather and lack of rain, Ipswich Borough Council is implementing in a complete ban on bonfires on all allotment fields due to the high risk that the fire could spread.
Please do not light any fires (including bonfires and barbeques) on your allotment plot between July and September.
If you have any questions please speak to your field team or contact us on allotments@ipswich.gov.uk
As you know, bonfires are not allowed at this time of year. Barbeques have now also been ruled out because of the fire risk.
David
